Workdays

A Community Garden

We are a community garden which means we are sharing and participating in a collective space. Most of us have a plot to maintain but that is only part of it. We are all custodians of our Oasis which means being a part of the whole. It is a space for gardeners and others. It is a place of calm and beauty and it’s up to all of us to look out for it and each other.

We have as few rules as possible. We want this to be a place where we can express ourselves, be with nature and be in nature.

To maintain this space requires our collective will to be aware of the space, your neighbors and the surroundings.

Throughout the season we will have meet ups, workdays and other events. These will be on the calendar here.

Everyone is expected to turn up when they can, if they can during a work day and be assigned a task.

Also everyone is expected to maintain their plot and the area around the plot, the paths, and nearby areas, by weeding, picking up trash (and taking it away with them) and generally looking around to see what can be done to keep the place looking wonderful. Find time to spend 10 minutes doing something other than watering or maintaining your plot. Allow a bit of extra time. If you need help thinking of what to do, email one of us and we’ll find you something that needs doing. It could be mowing the main path, cutting back some of the branches of the trees, turning the compost pile… There’s always something.
